You are invited to join us for the Oakport Project Kickoff on Friday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the future Oakport site near 66th Avenue and Oakport Street in Oakland.
After years of planning, partnership and community engagement, Oakport is moving forward. With key approvals secured, a 65-year ground lease in place, and Phase 1 construction permits submitted, we are beginning the transformation of approximately 100 acres into a nationally significant community campus designed to serve Oakland, the Bay Area and communities across California.
Oakport will bring together:
The result will be something unusual: a place where nonprofit and public-serving organizations can build long-term stability while working beside restored shoreline, expansive public open spaces and community-serving infrastructure.
This is more than a groundbreaking or project announcement. It is an invitation to imagine—and help create—a new future for Oakport and our shoreline. A place where organizations can grow, young people have better recreational opportunities, habitat is restored, and our region is better prepared for emergencies and climate-related challenges. Community engagement will continue to guide our path forward as the campus, shoreline and public spaces take shape.
Expected and invited guests include Mayor Barbara Lee, Assemblymember Mia Bonta, Alameda County Supervisor Lena Tam, EBMUD representatives, CBO executive directors and CEOs, elected and community leaders, and project partners. The full program and speakers will be announced September 30. Light refreshments and appetizers provided.
We hope you will join us to celebrate what has been accomplished and what comes next.

Oakport – Oakland, CA
Take a sneak peek of Oakport touring the 160,000 sq ft. nonprofit center and wood covered public lobby. Walk through to the Bay Trail and preview the largest shoreline restoration project in the City’s History, being co-led by several community based organizations. The full video will be released October 1.
To the north of the nonprofit campus and just east of the shoreline, modernized Oakport facilities will support EBMUD’s operations and maintenance, workforce training, and emergency response—strengthening water and wastewater service for nearly 1.5 million customers.
